Peter Jones After the not-so-funky previous outing, this collection gets back into the groove. A solid jazz heart supports complex funk rhythms throughout (with the odd oddity :)). Favorite track: Tricknologists (feat. Jim Hunt).

beads or bees Come on - pure, uncut awesomeness right here. If you're not hooked by the the end of the first 8 beats of this album, it's not for you. Favorite track: Crankmaster General (feat. Eric Krasno).

about

‘The Cooker’ offers his own take of the classic Jazz Funk genre, all masterfully propelled forward by the Funkestra core ensemble fortified with two muscular horn sections, one from the UK and one from the US.

Their burning grooves are mixed in with catchy themes and spiced up with fiery solos, creating a well funky stew.

Special guests include Lenny Pickett (Tower of Power, Saturday Night Live), Eric Krasno (Soulive), Sid Gauld (trumpet) and Michael B. Nelson's Hornheads (Prince, Cory Wong).

about

Redtenbacher's Funkestra London, UK

Austrian-bred bassist and funk fiend Stefan Redtenbacher is an anomaly, anachronism and a defiant demolisher of the pigeon- hole. Currently based in London, Stefan and his band Redtenbacher’s Funkestra deliver “out-and-out spectacular funk” (Snowboy) or, as UK Bass Guitar Magazine put it, “a near perfect slice of jazz-funk from one of Europe’s great players.” ... more
