    Passionate about the packing of my music I designed this packaging with the awesome illustrations of Angus MacKinnon and the photograph or Rob Blackham.

    A environmentally-friendly CD package including a full colour booklet printed on recycled paper of 8 pages behind the inside left panel of the digipak.

    The discs trays are not made from clear plastic like most digipaks, but are made from recycled egg boxes and have a central cork stud to mount the disc on. The four page printed outer is also made from 100% recycled card stock with a slightly rougher texture than the standard digipaks.

‘Crescent City’ is inspired by the music of New Orleans (the ‘Crescent City’), widely regarded as the birthplace of Jazz forged out of the melting pot of cultures.

This original and instrumental composition by Stefan Redtenbacher draws from Funk, Big Band Jazz and Afrobeat.

The odd meter tune features well-known German drum virtuouso Benny Greb with an exquisite groove and explosive drum solo as well as high-octave tenor saxophonist Tucker Antell from Boston.

In the spirit of the melting pot culture of New New Orleans the rest of the band are a mixture of musicians from Austria, Cuba, Germany, Ghana, the USA, United Kingdom and Venezuela.

Redtenbacher’s Funkestra are probably best known for being a wall-to-wall Jazz funk horn band and this tune certainly does their reputation justice.

The single cover showing a ‘calavera’ is inspired by the ‘Día de los Muertos’ which in New Orleans takes on a Carnival-esque theme that makes it feel like a second Mardi Gras, the world famous ‘Fat Tuesday’ carnival.
