about

Former James Brown MD Pee Wee Ellis wrote 'The Chicken'. Legendary Weather Report bassist Jaco Pastorius turned it into a Funk classic. This release is nodding towards this history & picking up the baton - combining hard hitting rhythms with Big Band horns. A wall-to-wall, joyful and unalloyed piece of funk by Redtenbacher's Funkestra best known for their bass driven Funk adventures. RSB Records will run concerts & digital marketing campaigns until the release of the album 'Big FUNK Band'.

Redtenbacher's Funkestra London, UK

Austrian-bred bassist and funk fiend Stefan Redtenbacher is an anomaly, anachronism and a defiant demolisher of the pigeon- hole. Currently based in London, Stefan and his band Redtenbacher’s Funkestra deliver “out-and-out spectacular funk” (Snowboy) or, as UK Bass Guitar Magazine put it, “a near perfect slice of jazz-funk from one of Europe’s great players.” ... more
