lyrics

Turned on
Written by Brendan Reilly

(chorus 1)

You got me turned on
Where did you come from
You know that I didn’t want none
But you brought some
How you gonna look at me like that
Dance like that
I’m about to have a heart attack
When you work that back

(verse 1)

It’s been one of those days when you wanna escape
When your wanna
Go out and dance and laugh your cares away, well…
My mama said there will be days like this
Mama said, mama said
I’m just here to be me, I’m just here to be free
But I gotta let you know I really like what I see
Now I didn’t come here to hook up
So why do have to go ahead and fire me up

(chorus 2)

Now you got me turned on
Where did you come from
You know that I didn’t want none
But you brought some
How you gonna look at me like that (and)
Dance like that
I’m about to have a heart attack
When you work that back

(verse 2)

Tell me do you like the way I dance
Like the way I move
Do you think I have an attitude
Do you think I’m rude
Well it doesn’t matter anyway
‘cause I’m just hear to party ‘til tomorrow is today
But you make me feel good
(BVs: I like your smile, I like your style)
Can’t take my eyes of you
(BVs: And we’ve been dancing for a while)
You got me working uh you making me sweat
And I can’t remember what I came here trying to forget

(chorus 3)

You got me turned on
Where did you come from
You know that I didn’t want none
But you brought some
How you gonna look at me like that
Dance like that
I’m about to have a heart attack
When you work that back

(chorus 4)

[lead more improvisational]

You got me turned on
Where did you come from
You know that I didn’t want none
But you brought some
How you gonna look at me like that
Dance like that
I’m about to have a heart attack
When you work that back

(Mid-8)

You know I didn’t see you coming baby
Why you gotta be starting something crazy
Oh thrill me baby you amaze me
Tonight [repeat w/BVs]

(Horn feature 8 bars)
(Instrumental solo 8 bars)

(chorus 5, 6 + 7)

[lead more improvisational]

You got me turned on
Where did you come from
You know that I didn’t want none
But you brought some
How you gonna look at me like that
Dance like that
I’m about to have a heart attack
When you work that back

about

Redtenbacher's Funkestra London, UK

Austrian-bred bassist and funk fiend Stefan Redtenbacher is an anomaly, anachronism and a defiant demolisher of the pigeon- hole. Currently based in London, Stefan and his band Redtenbacher’s Funkestra deliver “out-and-out spectacular funk” (Snowboy) or, as UK Bass Guitar Magazine put it, “a near perfect slice of jazz-funk from one of Europe’s great players.” ... more
